The Septic Genie works like an incubator, growing the natural bacteria that is introduced during the initial installation process. Over a short amount of time these bacteria multiply dramatically thanks to the Septic Genie incubating qualities. As these bacteria multiply they eventually work their way into the drain field.
There are two distinct ways these bacteria restore your septic system. First, these active bacteria work to digest all organic solids in the septic tank. Any organic matter in your tank, such as human waste, toilet paper, oils and grease get “eaten” by the bacteria.
This digestion of the organic solids is not a normal process in a traditional septic system. In a normal septic system these solids settle on the bottom of the septic tank, forming a sludge, or they float to the top creating a layer of scum. This buildup of sludge is the reason septic tanks need to be pumped periodically. With the Septic Genie this need for pumping your tank is reduced dramatically.
The second and most important process of septic system restoration that takes place after installing the Septic Genie is when the bacteria multiply to a point where they get suspended in the liquid and are transported out of the septic tank into the drain field. Once in the drain field these bacteria enter the soil and begin to eat away at the biomat that is clogging the drain field.
This biomat is usually what causes drain field failure. By introducing these bacteria when installing the Septic Genie you ultimately eliminate the biomat and thus avoid the costly and time consuming process of digging up and replacing the drain field.
Once the bacteria reach the drain field it is only a matter of time before they devour enough of the biomat to open up the drain field. Once restored, the bacteria continue to prosper and prevent future build up, keeping your drain field working efficiently for years to come.
